Lech Resort Restaurants

There are plenty of restaurants to choose from in resort but the majority of them are in hotels. Lech has some great local dishes and for traditional Austrian food you should head to the Madlochblick or the Post, both of which have the sort of warm Alpine atmosphere that suits Lech perfectly. There is also an excellent fondue restaurant called Hus No. 8, although you will almost certainly need to book well in advance if you want a table.

For something a little more refined, Johannesstübli and Griggeler Stuba are among the standout dining experiences in resort, while Fux is a great choice if you are craving sushi, seafood or simply a very good bottle of wine after skiing. Hotel Krone is another longstanding favourite and works equally well for dinner or late afternoon drinks by the slopes.

Lech Mountain Restaurants

Mountain restaurants in Lech have improved hugely over the years and long lunches on sunny terraces are now very much part of the skiing experience here.

One of the best known is Rud-Alpe, sitting just above Lech on the lower slopes. It is cosy, atmospheric and particularly good for grilled dishes and traditional Austrian food. In Oberlech, Mohnenfluh has one of the best terraces in the area and is perfect on a bluebird day, while Balmalp above Zug is another favourite for relaxed lunches with spectacular mountain views.

Other good options include Goldener Berg, Panorama Restaurant, the lively Barbecue Terrace and Trittkopf BBQ Station, which has become increasingly popular for burgers and smoked meats at high altitude. The pace of lunch in Lech is generally more relaxed than elsewhere in Austria, so it is worth allowing yourself time to properly enjoy it.

Lech Apres Ski

Lech is not really about wild table dancing and ski boots on bars, but there is still plenty of enjoyable apres ski to be found. The outdoor terrace at Hotel Krone is one of the classic spots for drinks after skiing, while the Hotel Tannbergerhof is another popular stop and often has a lively atmosphere in the afternoons.

Many of the mountain restaurants in Oberlech continue well into the afternoon, particularly later in the season when live music appears on the terraces and everyone suddenly forgets about skiing home.

The toboggan run from Oberlech down to Lech is also a definite must during the week.

Lech Nightlife

There is not a huge amount happening in Lech with regards to nightlife, but that is very much part of the resort’s charm. Evenings here tend to revolve around good food, excellent wine and elegant hotel bars rather than late-night clubs.

That being said, Fux Bar is usually one of the livelier spots and attracts a slightly younger crowd, while Archiv is a good choice for cocktails and a more relaxed atmosphere.

For something a little different, Zug makes a lovely evening excursion. Horse-drawn sleigh rides through the valley are available, often stopping at a local fondue restaurant before returning to Lech later in the evening.
