Ski chalets in the Arlberg

Catered and self-catered chalets in the Arlberg ski area - Austria

Choose from over 100 chalets in the Arlberg ski area of Austria for your next ski holiday. From luxury catered chalets to good value self-catered apartments we have a great selection of properties to explore below.

The Arlberg ski area in Austria is known as the 'cradle of alpine skiing' as it was here in 1921 that Hannes Schneider (who lived in Stuben) created the first ski school in the Alps. In the late 1930's the first main ski lifts were built and the ski domain we know today as the Arlberg was first mapped out. Although you could always ski from St Anton to Zurs from the top of the Valluga III lift at 2,811 metres altitude (only with an off-piste guide) the latest Flexenbahn gondola lift link opened in 2017 and now allows skiers to freely navigate the entire inter-connected ski area moving in either direction.

The Arlberg is Austria's largest connected ski area with 85 lifts giving access to over 300km of pisted runs and a further 200km of unprepared backcountry routes for experienced skiers only. Today the separate resorts of St Anton, St Christoph, Stuben, Zurs, Lech and Warth are all connected with a modern and efficient lift system making the Arlberg one of the premier ski destinations in the Alps.

However, which ski resort in the Arlberg should you choose for your next ski chalet holiday? We summarise the different resorts below...

    • St Anton
For keen skiers and keen party go-ers this is one of the most popular ski resorts in Austria. St Anton (1,300m) has for some time been one of the liveliest ski resorts in the Alps with a thumping apres ski scene in particular. The pedestrianised main Dorfstrasse is lined with smart 4-star hotels but at either end of the resort the accommodation options are much more chalet orientated - with both catered and self-catered options.
    • St Christoph
By contrast to St Anton is the sleepy and quaint village of St Christoph (1,800m), which lies on the southern side of the Arlberg mountain pass. The village has direct links to the skiing on the Galzig Mountain which sits between St Christoph and St Anton but offers a much quieter alternative to raucous St Anton.
    • Stuben
Located on the other side of the Arlberg pass lies the pretty village resort of Stuben (1,400m). This resort gives access to the great skiing on the Albona Mountain with its legendary north facing off-piste terrain.
    • Lech
Lech (1,450m) is one of the smartest resorts of the Alps with a stunning collection of genuinely luxurious hotels. The resort sits at the confluence of the Lech River and the Zursbach and the rivers, combined with the majestic mountains make for a picture postcard setting. Along with the luxury hotels and high-end shopping there are some of the most prestigious chalets in the Alps located in Lech.
