The Koh-I Nor (Mountain of Light) is actually a 105 carat diamond which is currently set in the Coronation crown of Queen Elizabeth II. In a similar manner the Hotel Koh-I Nor takes pride of place as the brightest jewel of Val Thorens and is now Europe's highest 5 star hotel!

The five star Hotel Koh-I Nor offers 63 luxurious bedrooms and suites. All have a spacious private balcony, bathroom with bath and separate wc. Also all rooms come equipped with flat screen, mini-bar, hair-dryer and private safe.

The hotel's principal Chef, Eric Samson, already has 1 Michelin star from his former restaurant. He now welcomes guests to the three restaurants of the hotel: one with international cuisine, a luxury brasserie and a further restaurant serving local specialities. Together they offer a wide variety of tastes for a fabulous a dining experience. All three restaurants are decorated in a luxury, modern and cozy style and clients staying on half board can choose between the three restaurants for dinner.

Children are welcome in all the restaurants as there are extensive and specially prepared children menus.

Guests can relax in the lounge bar with its open fireplace and enjoy the musical evenings that are arranged for their enjoyment. The south west facing panoramic terrace is a must on a sunny day as the views across the resort towards the mountains are amazing.

Client Comments

" The hotel was very good. The junior suite is a good layout for our 4 person family. The food is good and the staff very friendly (half board). We like the pool/spa facilities. The ski room and ski in/out component make things easy. We had an issue with the luggage allowance on our flight, which luckily I spotted early enough to make a change. I was very pleased that it was all sorted quickly and easily by your staff. "

" Honestly, it was a great week. We had a wonderful time. The Koh I Nor is a top hotel. Food was awesome. Rooms were a little small so if we go back, I'd like to investigate their family suites if they have them. The ski hire in the hotel was absolutely brilliant, run by a chap called Christophe who was knowledgeable, kind and fun all at the same time. The snow in VT was really good considering how late in the season it was. We skied over to Courchevel and the snow was terrible there! As for Meribel, that was beyond bad! The ski instructor for our son was another success. His name was Jürgen Weppler from New Generation ski school. 62 years old and a total legend. Speaking to our driver, it turns out that you can request the motorway route from Geneva to the ski resorts which misses out Annecy. Had I known that, I might have chosen to go to Geneva because I can't stand the Annecy route. Saying that, the transfer from Lyon to Moutier was nearly all motorway and a great improvement on the usual Geneva-Annecy-Bourg/Moutier route. I'd do it again. We'll be in touch again fairly soon about next year. I think that we're looking to go over the New Year. Best wishes and thanks for your help. "
