Overview
Location, location location...The Pointe Isabelle is right in the centre of the resort, so very simply if you want to be where the action is you can't really get much better. The local bus stop to get you to the various ski areas in the Chamonix valley is right outside the front door of the hotel.
In the spring of 2019 a new wing was created at the rear of the existing building and an additional floor was created on the roof. This extension ended in July 2020 with the creation of twenty-seven new rooms, including one suite, with breathtaking views of the city of Chamonix and the Mont-Blanc massif.
Today the Pointe Isabelle also features a large modular room for multiple use for conferences, meetings, cocktails (which can accommodate up to 100 people), a sauna, a garden, a gym area, a large ski / bicycle storage room and a safe indoor parking for cars.
The hotel has a lively bar and bistro serving local specialities which is popular with locals and residents alike. The hotel also has a gym and large sauna on the top floor.
Who is Isabella Straton? - Isabella Straton was a well-educated and wealthy young lady who left England during the Victorian era to become a pioneering mountaineer in the unexplored French Alps. She climbed Aiguille du Midi and the north summit of Aiguille de Blaitière. She made four ascents of Mont Blanc, including the first winter ascent in January 1876.
She challenged the conventions of a traditional and male dominated world.
The location of this hotel is spot on. Furthermore, it is a fun and realtively inexpensive place to stay in this iconic resort.
