Ski Hire in Chamonix
There are 20+ different ski hire shops in Chamonix ranging from good value options with the likes of Ski Republic, Skimium and Intersport, through to smaller independent stores such as Sanglard (see below) who also offer ski hire an equipment delivery option in Chamonix whereby your chosen ski or snowboard kit is delivered directly to your chalet or hotel (and picked up at the end of the week). A delivery/pick up service or an 'in-chalet' fitting service will be a more expensive option but might be a more practical option for some.
If you are staying in a catered chalet the staff may drive you to and from your chosen ski hire shop at the beginning and end of your holiday so that you can pick up and drop off your equipment. If there is no driver service available there is always the resort free bus service which will get you around Chamonix easily enough.
Ski or snowboard rental in Chamonix - the different options
Sanglard offer a multitude of ski and snowboard equipment services and have three shops - one in Chamonix centre (199 Place du Mont Blanc), one in Argentiere (98 Chemin de la Glaciere) and the other in Vallorcine. They offer an excellent ski boot fitting service run by Jules & Damian who have decades of experience at their 'bootroom' facility. They offer an in-chalet fitting service for a minimum of 10 people which carries a 20% supplement in price. Alternatively you can use their 'home delivery' service for a small supplement per person. Simply stop by at their store to choose your equipment and later that evening it will be dropped off at your accommodation. If you have your own car in resort Sanglard are the only ski hire shop to have their own private car park at the back of their store. They are also opposite the underground public car park.
2. Independent Stores
Use one of several independent ski hire stores in Chamonix such as Cham'sport Nord/Sud/Centre, Legend'CHX Snowboard Hire, Le Vert ProShop, Echo Base, Local'CHX Ski Hire & Delivery or Zero G Snowboard shop.

The online booking process is as easy as pie. There is no need to enter your shoe size, weight or height. Simply choose your 1st ski day (usually the day after you arrive in resort), the number of days you wish to hire for and what category of equipment you wish to book. On booking you will receive an email receipt for your booking with an attached voucher. Please print this voucher and present at any SKISET store in your resort.
For each quality category there are many different makes and models of skis and snowboards to choose from. The shop staff in resort will help you select the best equipment from the category you booked to match your ability, preferred ski terrain (piste, park or off-piste) and the prevailing ski/snowboarding conditions.
Your ski hire voucher can be used at the following SKISET stores (see map below):
- Skiset Aiguille du Midi: Located on 451 Rue Lyret this shop is situated next to the Aiguille du Midi cable car station.
- Skiset Ginabelle Centre: Place du Poilu - moments from the pedestrian centre of Chamonix old town.
- Skiset Hotel Mercure Les Bossons: Located just off the main road leading to Les Houches, south west of Chamonix town.
- Skiset Hotel Excelsior: Located on the road towards Argentiere on the edge of Le Lavancher.
Extended ski hire for 7 or more daysIf you wish to hire for 7 or more days (perhaps you are self-driving or taking the overnight Eurostar service) then please visit the SKISET website. Their online booking system will accept bookings of 7 days or more. If you are booking in a French resort the price for 7 days hire is the same as 6 days so you can enjoy 7 days hire for the price of 6. SKISET 'Premium' category of rental equipmentThe top category of rental equipment available through any holiday company is the 'Excellence' category (which we price below). However, if you book directly through the SKISET website there is a more expensive 'Premium' category available for those that have to have the best no matter the extra cost. Brands featured in this category include: Lacroix, Black Crows, Kastle, Exonde and Blizzard.
Please note that the top level ‘Premium’ category of equipment is only available in the larger ski resorts of the Alps.
