Set high above the Lauterbrunnen valley floor Murren is only accessible by a cable car from Stechelberg, or railway from Lauterbrunnen. The village is small and quaint with paths and narrow lanes. It was in Murren where Sir Arnold Lunn first created the package ski holiday in 1922. He also inven...

Nendaz is an attractive village set on a large plateau above the town of Sion in the Rhone Valley. It is surprisingly large for a ski resort (17,000 holiday beds) that is relatively unknown by the British and its facilities are more in line with those of many much bigger ski stations. The ski...

Pontresina is small and sedate and an excellent base for the extensive cross-country skiing of the Engadine area. It is a sheltered, sunny village with one main street.
