Ski Resorts for Intermediates

Arc 1600 is the original resort of the area and is situated at the top of the funicular railway that snakes up the mountain from Bourg St Maurice, the rail head town in the valley below. There is little more to Arc 1600 than a series of low-rise apartment blocks containing hundreds of rather smal...

Arc 1800 is the main resort of the Les Arcs region and has most to offer with regards nightlife, resort atmosphere, shops, bars, amenities etc. It also has a great central position within the Les Arcs ski area giving swift and easy access to one of the World's largest ski areas - the Paradiski re...

The main Les Arcs ski region is made up of four resorts and Arc 1950 was the last to be built (Arc 1600, Arc 1800 and Arc 2000 being the other three). This new ski village was completed 2007 by Intrawest - the huge developer responsible for Whistler and Mont Tremblant in Canada, and more recently...

Arc 2000 consists of little more than large self-catering accommodation blocks with swooping roof lines and surrounding snow and rock. Over recent years though catered chalets in Arc 2000 have been built also. Situated just above Arc 1950 the resort is situated a little on the edge of the Les Arc...

Villaroger is the lowest of the ski villages that make up the Les Arcs ski area and it is also the most secluded of the accommodation centres. However, therein exists its charm. The village is pretty much untouched by commercial tourism and retains much of the original charm of the old alpine vil...

Les Deux Alpes is a narrow long village situated on a high but remote col, with a sprawling collection of haphazardly placed buildings ranging from old chalets to monstrous 1960's apartment blocks. One of the main reasons for the resort's popularity is the excellent snow reliability especially on...

Les Gets is a traditional resort with real alpine charm which is only a short drive from Geneva airport yet links into the biggest interlinked ski area of Europe, The Portes du Soleil. The immediate ski area that links with Morzine is largely suited to beginners and intermediates and provides mi...
