Le Ski holidays
Le Ski is one of the UK’s longest running ski chalet holiday companies. First established in 1982 by sister and brother, Nick and Elizabeth Morgan, the management today has changed little over the years – with Elizabeth largely based in Courchevel and Nick running the office in Yorkshire. Early on Le Ski obtained an ATOL licence which enabled them to offer well-priced package holidays to the Alps using two UK gateways: Gatwick and Manchester. With a growing collection of quality chalet properties, firstly in Courchevel Moriond (their spiritual home), and then adding La Tania and Val d’Isere it was clear from the start that they were on to something special.

Nick’s growing expertise in travel lead him to be a director of AITO (Association of Independent Tour Operators) from 1994 to 2001 whilst his sister, Elizabeth, managed the growing team of overseas staff, maintaining high standards of operation as Le Ski grew.
Recent years have brought particular challenges to Le Ski, as well as the wider travel industry. Brexit required Le Ski to completely rethink how they staffed their chalets in France. However, with true resilience and commercial ‘nouse’, Le Ski met these employment challenges head-on and successfully bounced back, maintaining their high standards across all 30+ of their chalets.
Covid was the second test which brought operations to a complete halt from February 2020 to January 2022. The Package Travel Regulations (which governed Le Ski’s holidays) are enshrined in law. These stated that as package holidays could not be fulfilled during the Covid travel bans that all clients had to receive a refund in full. Whilst some of Le Ski’s competitors financially struggled (and some failed) they were able to weather the storm.
Post Covid it was a brave move of Le Ski to stick with their ATOL licence and to continue offering their clients fully packaged holidays with flights and transfers included. Many travel companies stepped away from the financial risks of selling package holidays which is why today (summer 2025) there are far fewer ski holiday companies selling flight inclusive holidays falling under the Package Travel Regulations. However, the bravery has more than paid off with Le Ski perfectly placed to benefit from the post Covid ‘bounce back’ of high demand to travel (and ski) again. Le Ski are justifiably proud of playing the tough times of Brexit and Covid with a ‘straight bat’ and consider their ATOL licence (and financial bonding with ABTOT) as essential elements of their hugely popular product.
40+ years later, Le Ski is still going strong, building their alpine expertise and refining their high standards of food and in-resort service. Nick and Elizabeth are both beginning to take more of a back seat with regards day to day management of Le Ski and Ian Hope (ex Specialist Holidays Group, Enigma Travel Group, Hotelplan and Ski Famille) now heads up the UK office as Le Ski’s Managing Director bringing with him 30+ years of travel industry experience.
