Self Catering Ski Chalets
Self-catered ski chalets were already growing in popularity long before Covid, but the 2020–22 pandemic significantly accelerated demand. Today’s skiers value flexibility, privacy and control over how they spend their time in resort-and self-catered accommodation delivers exactly that.
If you want the freedom to enjoy long lunches on the mountain, dine out in your favourite restaurants a few evenings a week, and cook at home on others, a private self-catered chalet allows you to set your own schedule, manage costs and enjoy your ski holiday entirely on your own terms.
Twenty years ago, a self-catering ski holiday often meant squeezing into a sparsely furnished studio apartment with a tiny galley kitchen, limited storage and barely enough space to dry ski gear. While those budget apartments still exist, mainly catering for student and ultra-low-cost trips, expectations have changed dramatically.
Today, self-catered accommodation in the Alps includes spacious ski apartments and stand-alone chalets with modern kitchens, generous living areas, proper storage for equipment and, in many cases, luxury features such as fireplaces, hot tubs and wellness facilities. Our portfolio focuses on these higher-quality self-catered properties, offering comfort and space without sacrificing independence.
Adding a private chef to your self-catered chalet
For guests who want flexibility without doing all the cooking themselves, arranging a private chef is an increasingly popular option. A wide range of chef agencies and independent chefs now operate across the Alps, making it easy to tailor the level of service you want. Private chefs can be booked for:
- Full-day service including breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner
- Dinner-only service on selected evenings
Please note that most chefs require a minimum booking of around five nights, and for groups larger than eight guests, a butler or service staff may also be needed. How to arrange a private chef
