Les Deux Alps, France

Festival season in the Alps kicks off in just over 6 weeks, with Rise Festival. Held in Les Deux Alps in France, the festival prides itself on its focus on skiing, music and adventure. So alongside big music artists, there are parties in secret log cabins and huge events like Bongo’s Bingo, Applebum and Triple Cooked. There is also a huge range of amazing activities to enjoy, such as a husky safari, glacier yoga, paragliding, helicopter rides and snowmobiling!

Line-up: Chase and Status DJ set, Solardo, and an orchestral rendition of Destiny’s Child and Christmas Hits.

Tomorrowland Winter

14 - 21 March 2020

Alpe d’Huez, France

After its huge success last year, the ultra-famous Belgian music festival returns to Alpe d’Huez for its second winter instalment. One of the most loved and best-known music festivals in the world, the festival attracts 'People of Tomorrow' from all over the planet.

Line-up: Oliver Heldens, Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix

Rock the Pistes

15 - 21 March 2020

Portes du Soleil, France

Consisting of 5 live concerts on the slopes, and over 30 après ski concerts in the resorts, Rock the Pistes is held across the entire Portes du Soleil region. As the name would suggest, the festival attracts international and French pop and rock artists. Best of all, festival tickets are completely free with the purchase of a lift pass!

Line-up: To be announced. Previous artists include Rag’n’Bone man, Lee Scratch Perry and Babyshambles.

23 - 30 March 2020

Avoriaz, France

Snowboxx festival includes performances in the huge open-air arena by the slopes, or at legendary après ski parties in Avoriaz town centre. Alongside an incredible line-up, there are lots of great activities to get involved in. Dance the night away at an igloo party or forest rave, enjoy a bottomless brunch or compete against your friends in a snowball fight or sledge race!

Line-up: Headliners includes Andy C, Annie Mac and Denis Sulta. Other acts include Abode, Jaguar Skills, and The Menendez Brothers.

9 - 13 April 2020

Mayrhofen, Austria

The original alpine music festival is in its 21st year. Snowbombing, held in Mayrhofen since 2005, considers itself ‘The World’s Greatest Show on Snow’. Alongside huge music acts, there’s more igloo raves, forest parties, street parties and mountain top brunches. More chilled out activities include alpine yoga and chairlift speed dating. The festival also embraces its Austrian location, with traditional cultural references including oompah bands, lederhosen and lots of sausages!

The event is also known for giving ‘Snowbombers’ an alternative to flying – the famous Snowbombing Road Trip encourages attendees to drive to the festival, involving collection points en-route, an overnight stay in Frankfurt and a procession on arrival in Mayrhofen, which marks the official opening of the festival.

Line-up: Liam Gallagher, The Streets, Foals and Kurupt FM alongside DJ sets from Chase & Status, Rudimental, Gorgon Cit, My Nu Leng, Sub Focus and Wilkinson

Zermatt Unplugged

14 to 18 April 2020

Zermatt, Switzerland

Zermatt Unplugged is a key event in the Swiss music scene. The mountain festival celebrates exclusively acoustic music, making it unique in Europe. Altogether, there are around 80 concerts. Attendees can also visit the Taste Village in the centre of resort and try some delicious Swiss food.

Line-up: To be announced next week. Past performers have included Passenger, James Bay, Jessie J and Tom Odell

Dates to be confirmed

Crans Montana, Switzerland

Caprices is a famous electronic music festival, usually held over 4 days in April. The event is a favourite of those in the underground house and techno music scenes. Sven Vath and Ricardo Villalobos count themselves among the festival’s regulars. Parties are held in the clubs of Crans Montana, and in the iconic MDRNTY dance tent, perched 2,200m up the mountain.

Top of the Mountain Festival
