Overview
The Maffei family have been welcoming guests for over one hundred years in this peaceful corner of Madonna di Campiglio. Every detail in this 25 room hotel has been thought through. Warm tones in the lounge are designed to make you feel welcome whilst cool colours in the bedrooms are to ensure your relax. Heated floors, natural wool and local stone and timber treated with beeswax or linseed oil help compliment the hotel's natural surroundings. Great importance has been given to natural light so vast walls of glass mean you can enjoy the amazing mountain views from the lounge, the restaurant and the indoor swimming pool.
The restaurant is amazing and offers a fantastic buffet breakfast with every conceivable option. Dinner is a gourmets delight with high quality ingredients used throughout. If you like your food this hotel will not disappoint. The wine menu is also very impressive and reasonably priced for a hotel of this standard. In addition to the main restaurant the hotel also features a really atmospheric a la carte restaurant "Stube Hermitage" where you can sample various taster menus which will have your taste buds buzzing.
Comfortable and elegant, the hotel has a warm and welcoming atmosphere and is furnished with classic mountain elegance. From the peaceful setting of the Bio-hotel Hermitage, you can enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Brenta Dolomites (UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE).
The Hotel is 1.5 kilomtres from the village centre. A courtesy mini-bus service is provided to the main lifts during the winter season (every 5 minutes).
This hotel is run by a lovely local family who live by the mantra, 'service with a smile'. Although not in the centre of the resort (Madonna is large and rather spread out) the hotel will shuttle you around. The rooms and food are first class.

Client Comments
" The holiday was excellent and a good choice for what we wanted - i.e. a nice hotel (rather than a chalet), good food, relatively easy skiing, somewhere new and, for once, where budget prices were not a determining factor. Davide, the chauffer, was charming and very efficient; he texted me before we took off, met us at Arrivals and whisked us to the hotel in about 2 hours; I was very relieved NOT to have self-driven - it's a longish drive on many narrow roads with poor signage, so we arrived fresh just in time for cocktails and dinner. Barbara (daughter) and Monica (assistant) were delightful and very helpful - only one hiccup when I asked for a feather pillow late the first night and Barbara had said "sorry, no" (but she had misunderstood and feather pillows arrived the next day). Mum and Dad were charming, and I even had a couple of dances with her mother on one of two evenings with music / singer (great fun). On arrival, Barbara tried to upgrade us to the Main Suite - which may have been bigger but was not as well laid out / designed and we opted to stay in the Junior Suite - fabulous uninterrupted views of the mountains, very comfortable, although beds were a bit hard and (Sky) TV awkward to operate. Lovely spa and pool with sauna and steam room with fab views again. We both had 30 min (back) massages, which were probably the best we have each experienced. Food generally excellent - buffet breakfast (but get in early before the fresh fruit goes!), 5 course dinner (not huge servings but very varied and always tasty). Afternoon tea not included, as we found out when we got the bill - 5 euros a bit steep for a teabag and hot water. Shuttle service to / from the slopes was efficient and not as inconvenient as I feared (never had to wait more than 5 mins). The skiing was great for us, not too challenging and enough variety, but maybe not too extensive for better skiers. We found some lovely eating spots for lunch, Cascina Zeledria (off piste 54 just above Fortini lift) and Stopani at top of Groste lift. So, thanks again for the recommendation and arrangements. "

" It was a lovely hotel with great rooms and had absolutely delicious food. They were also very well connected with the ski school and hire. "

" Comfy rooms, bathrooms a little on the small side, beautiful hotel, friendly and welcoming staff. Fabulous food including great breakfasts, comfortable lounges and nice spa area. Quite isolated but very efficient bus service to and from lifts etc. A very picturesque resort. Good shops, some high quality. Good, varied skiing with interconnecting resorts. Earl (Alpine Answers) was very good. He listened to our requirements and came up with some sensible, tailored options to suit us. "
