A large comfortable chalet with sensational views

Situated on a large plot at the western end of the Chamonix valley, Chalet Peter Pan is considered one of the most beautiful properties in the region. This elegantly restored Savoyard farmhouse offers breath taking views of the Mont Blanc massif and a degree of privacy seldom experienced in Alpine resorts. The property sits on the edge of a nature reserve, at the foot of some of the best hiking trails in the region, yet only a few minutes' drive from the local ski lifts.

The chalet comfortably sleeps four families or 12+ adults in four double bedrooms and a huge upstairs hayloft dormitory which has a further 4 doubles and 1 single bed - ideal for children.

Originally built by Piedmontais hill farmers in 1777. It was a working farm for the best part of the next 200 years, before becoming an auberge in the 1940's. Recently it was lovingly restored and renovated by a Dutchman and his Belgian wife and made into a private Alpine home. In early 2012 it was purchased by an Englishman and is now offered through Alpine Answers as one of the finest chalets in the Chamonix Valley.

The chalet comprises four double bedrooms plus a huge hayloft dormitory (90 square metres) sleeping nine which consists of four double beds and one single bed. All bedrooms feature en-suite bathrooms and Bedroom 3 is in fact a separate apartment with its own front door, bathroom and kitchenette.

There is plenty of choice when it comes to finding space and privacy. Aside from your private quarters, you can choose between the Winter Garden, large living room or small living room / cinema. Breakfast and informal dining takes place in the large open-plan kitchen, while the wood-panelled dining room can be used for more formal occasions. The ground floor is wired for sound with a zoneable Bose system. Wireless internet, satellite televisions and an extensive library of 100+ DVDs is available for guest use.

Chalet Peter Pan is spread over 4,000 square metres of private gardens and terraces accessed by a long drive and further separated from the world by mature hedges and trees around the boundary of the property. Facing South East at an altitude of 1,100 metres, the site benefits from uninterrupted views of the Mont Blanc massif and direct sunlight throughout the day. A few paces from the chalet, one of the three original mazots has been converted into a sauna, with an outdoor shower for summer use. Just below the sauna, guests can settle into a Norwegian wood-fired hot tub and look out over Les Aiguilles de Chamonix.

A short walk away, via a path at the end of the garden, Les Granges d'en Haut is a boutique five-star hotel offering a luxury spa, pool, health centre, restaurant and bar.

The garage provides covered parking for four large vehicles, while further vehicles can easily park in the driveway. Alongside the garage is a large ski-room with a heated ski-boot rack.

450 square metres of living space.

Client Comments

" The view from the main balcony is breath taking, looking over the entire valley, but the chalet itself does justice to this panorama. Beautifully finished, brilliantly equipped (sauna, home cinema, hot tub etc.) and with easy access to the slopes, we all loved our stay and will definitely be going back asap! The organisation surrounding the entire visit was faultless, which lead to a very relaxed holiday. "

Mr C H

" Chalet Peter Pan is a special place - tasteful and comfortable but retaining the feel of an alpine farmhouse. Fantastic views of Mont Blanc from the deck as well as from the bedrooms, not to mention the hot tub. "
