This is a true character chalet with much charm and atmosphere.
Overview
The Chalet Aitken in St Anton has spectacular views of the Rendl ski area from the south facing sunny balconies, making this a firm favourite with many St Anton regulars. Traditionally decorated with many unique Austrian touches, the Aitken has a comfortable open plan living and dining room with ample place for nine guests to relax of an evening after a trying day on the mountain. However, if the limbs are still a little weary there is also the added bonus of a sauna which easily takes up to five people at any one time.
There are five well-appointed bedrooms and a good ratio of shower and bathrooms. The chalet sits just above the centre of the resort and will take you 5 minutes to walk downhill on the way to the lifts in the morning and slightly longer on the way back. If you don't fancy walking the local bus stop is right outside the chalet.
NB: This chalet is operated by a Dutch tour operator, who have been in the catered ski chalet business since 1977, operating 37 ski chalets in France, Austria and Italy.
The main difference between a "normal" British-run chalet, which you will be familiar with, and the Dutch product is that afternoon tea and cakes are not included. However, house wine, beers, soft drinks, and tea and coffee are available and are included in the cost of your holiday.
Towels are also not included but can be rented in resort for 8.50 euros per person, a mid-week towel change is included. Alternatively, by upgrading to the comfort package at 25 euros per person for the week both towels and afternoon tea and cakes will be provided. Both of these supplements are payable in resort.
Breakfasts will be continental in style with cheese, hams and bread, yogurt and fruit juices, tea and coffee.
We like the Chalet Aitken as its location is good by St Anton's standards, and it's a really comfortable and traditional chalet.

Client Comments
" You couldn't call it luxurious but there is a great atmosphere created by the large fireplace and surrounding sofas that makes this a great "chalet atmosphere" property. The bedrooms are fine (although one couple in our party drew the short straw and got the room with end to end beds which they were not happy with) with plenty of space. The sauna area was a little tired and felt like it needed a thorough cleaning or refurb or something. However, we weren't there for the sauna. The walk down in the morning to the lifts was fine (no trouble) up at the end of the day was a little tiring but this might have something to do with stopping at the Mooserwirt on the way down to resort. "

" Chalet is in not so bad a location, facilities good, stayed in a lot better chalets before though. St Anton is a great resort all round for on and off-piste...apres ski brilliant as well. "
