  • Bellevarde2
The Bellevarde Lodges are an imposing collection of six stone-and-timber chalets situated right on the Santons piste and just a few hundred metres from the Olympique cable car in Val d'Isere. The Lodges have proved extremely popular with guests and the national press. Described by the Evening Standard (2006) as 'comfortably chic, the best located new chalets in resort this season'. Named after wines (plus a brandy!) Muscat, Merlot, Margaux, Cognac, Savoie, Chablis - each chalet is identical in layout and varies only in orientation and colour scheme. Genuine old timbers from a local dismantled farmhouse, Italian marble in the bathrooms and polished parquet flooring have been used throughout. The vaulted sitting rooms with exposed beams and floor to ceiling glass boast finest English made sofas and one of the most breathtaking views in the resort. There is a delightful fireplace, a huge sunny terrace and widescreen DVD television with cinema surround sound. • Moris

    Moris

    Val d'Isere
    France
    Sleeps:
    51 - 59
The Moris chalet hotel is something of an institution in Val d'Isere and retains each winter its status as one of the resort's main party venues. The atmosphere is friendly and mostly suited to the younger crowd who do not so much mind the slightly tired decor and small rooms. The Moris Pub that is open to the public and known for its lively music is on the ground floor and operates independently from the Chalet hotel. The bedrooms are quite small and only a little over a half have a private shower or bath. This is an adult only chalet hotel except during the school holidays. • Juniper1

    Juniper

    Val d'Isere
    France
    Sleeps:
    17 - 18
Chalets Juniper, Jasmine and Jacaranda are spread across the top two floors of the delightfully retro three-star Residence Le Grizny, with Juniper occupying the whole upper floor. The building is unusually spacious and solid, having been built before Val d'Isere's narrow valley started running out of space. And its position is really good: the village centre is four minutes' walk away, the ski buses stop nearby, and it is possible to ski home. Although the front door is conveniently close to the main road, the bedrooms are further along the building, towards the silent forest on the slopes of Solaise. Nearly all of them have deep east-facing balconies with impressive views of mountains, trees and snow, and noise is never a problem, unless it's you making it! Juniper has nine bedrooms, ranging from cosy to very large, six bathrooms and separate, sizeable sitting and dining rooms. Two of the cosier rooms are discounted (rooms 14a & b), while the smallest of all, 14c, has a very special deal: its double bed is sold as a single bed, but if you can inveigle someone into sharing it, they pay half price. Juniper's atmosphere is always fun. It tends to appeal to relaxed people, perhaps because from the outside the building looks a bit like a municipal library, or because with six bathrooms for up to eighteen people it doesn't attract the sort of guests who spend from tea-time to dinner-time trying to make themselves beautiful. Or maybe anyone uptight is put off by those technicolour baths and basins. But however convivial the dining and sitting rooms become, guests can escape into the quiet of their own rooms, most of which are a good size. There is no TV (imagine trying to get 17 or 18 people to agree on what to watch?), but there is Wi-Fi. • Champsavalin2
In common with the rest of Val d'Iseres La Daille area, Chalet Hotel Champ Avalins might not win any awards for the cutest or prettiest exterior in the Alps, but it is the location that really counts! You can ski back to within just 50m of the hotel, and each morning you have a choice of lifts right on hand to whisk you up the mountain. From an apres-ski point of view, there are a couple of popular bars to choose from in the immediate vicinity, plus there is the residents hotel bar. Inside, the Champs Avalins offers a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. There is an attractive restaurant on the first floor, with has views to the piste. The residents bar is ideal for afternoon tea, or a pre- or post-dinner drink, and the terrace catches any late afternoon sun, inviting you to linger until it sets behind the mountains. The bedrooms are generally a good size and attractively furnished, and all of them have well appointed shower or bathrooms, most with smart new tiling from floor to ceiling. Most rooms have balconies, many of which are south-facing and overlook the piste where the World Cup Downhill run finishes, and there are some pairs of rooms with an inter-connecting doors available on request. Please note that children under 13 years of age are not accepted into shared chalets outside of peak weeks (Christmas, New Year, Half Term and Easter) unless the party books the chalet for sole occupancy. • Chamoisdor6

    Chamois D'or

    Val d'Isere
    France
    Sleeps:
    52 - 54
What an amazing location! Situated at the foot of the Face piste on Bellevarde, you can ski from the door to the main lifts, nursery slopes and ski school meeting points, so it is absolutely ideal for families as well as keen skiers. However, you would have to ski/board the black Face run if you wanted to ski back! luckily though the Chamois d'Or is only five minutes walk from the resort centre if you don't fancy that challenge at the end of a long, tiring day. The Chamois d'Or has a superb atmosphere with a relaxed ambiance. The airy dining room has a wall of picture windows offering superb views towards Solaise and the Manchet Valley and there is a small in house bar next to a huge open fireplace with comfortable sofas, perfect for a pre dinner aperitif or nightcap. Next door to the bar is a smaller lounge which is ideal for children and adults alike to play cards or board games in, or watch a DVD on the large TV. The comfortable bedrooms are all individual in character and some of the nicest rooms are those with the most quirky features. All are ensuite, mostly twins but with the advantage of family suites and triple rooms providing a range of bedrooms to suit all needs. Lower Ground Floor: Rooms 24 and 25 Ground Floor: Room 26 First Floor: Rooms 3 - 11 Second Floor: Rooms 12 - 18 Third Floor: 19 - 22 Note 1 from Alpine Answers: For split chalet bookings whereby different parties share the chalet the tour operator running this chalet has a policy that allows children of any age to share the chalet with other guests for any week. We advise checking prior to booking the ages of other guests already booked into the chalet. However, we cannot guarantee that a party with young children will not book after you. Note 2 from Alpine Answers: The chalet staff are not qualified chefs but keen cooks with suitable experience, they work to a set chalet menu for the week and provide a vegetarian alternative for vegetarians or for guests that don't eat a particular evening's meat or fish dish. They obviously aim to please but at the same time they would expect a degree of compromise from any guests with specific dietary needs and requests whether by choice or for medical reasons (including for example, but not limited to - gluten free, dairy free or vegan). These guests should be happy to simply make the best of the chalet menu on offer and accept that the chalet staff will not be able to offer a completely alternative menu to suit their dietary requests. The chalet staff can get in touch the week before your arrival to discuss the menu and advise of things that you should bring. Saulire

    Val d'Isere
    France
    Sleeps:
    14 - 15
This chalet was built in 2000 and is finished to a high standard. As the modern chalet style dictates bedrooms are relatively small in order to maximise living and dining room space with an emphasis on lots of comfortable sofas and good quality soft furnishings. Although not right by the lifts being situated at the lower end of the high street, access is convenient through the regular free bus service in Val d'Isere. The nearest bus stop is 200 metres from the chalet.
