  • Chardon1
Le Chardon is undoubtedly one of the most desirable and exclusive chalets in Val d'Isere. Resting elegantly on the side of the Solaise Mountain, it is a haven for keen skiers of all abilities. Each of its 10 en-suite bedrooms has floor to ceiling windows offering uninterrupted views up the Manchet Valley and Vanoise National Park. With 2 separate living areas, large TV room, study, and dining room Le Chardon is an ideal location for larger groups, and corporate parties to soak up the magical atmosphere. The large private terrace is a fantastic place to hold extravagant barbecues while, weather permitting, drinks can be served from a hand crafted snow bar. A perfect way to mix business with pleasure. After an active day on the slopes of the Espace Killy ski area you can choose to ski back or to be collected by your private chauffeur and taken back to Le Chardon where afternoon tea and cakes will be served. Relax in one of the two private hot tubs with a glass of champagne or for the more energetic a splash around in the 18ft swim spa. Alternatively you may choose to indulge in a full body massage, from one of the highly trained physiotherapists or to curl up in front of the open log fire with a good book before enjoying a five course culinary experience. All of the menus are designed exclusively by the acclaimed head chef and served in the newly extended dining room overlooking the Manchet Valley. • Grandtorsai1
Grand Torsai is the smaller of two chalets in Le Fornet that share the same subterranean entrance. It is slightly beyond and above La Couchire (forty-five seconds beyond, to be precise, along the same underground passages, and fifty steps above, though with the ski locker and boot warmers sensibly at the bottom). Le Fornet offers the highest and emptiest pistes, the best powder, the Pissaillas Glacier with its exhilarating blue and red runs, and much of the area's off-piste are all reached via the cable car, two minutes from this chalet. So are two of the best mountain restaurants, the Signal and Edelweiss. The hamlet of Le Fornet itself is the prettiest part of Val d'Isere, and has more excellent restaurants. Should you wish to go into the village centre, to the nursery slopes or the shops, the free bus stops just outside the chalet until after midnight, and you can reach the nursery slopes or nightlife as fast as people staying in the village centre. Grand Torsai was built in 2005 - it's really pretty and very pleasantly finished. Two of its five bedrooms are admirably compact, but with enormous sliding windows and wonderful views. The other bedrooms have more space and great views, but only normal-sized windows. All have smart bathrooms. Down one floor are the sauna and the indoor hot tub shown in our rotating pictures. The split-level sitting-dining room is the heart of the chalet, in particular the large square dining table and the vast picture windows. Romantics appreciate the sunniest views in all Val d'Isere, stretching from dawn over the Galise, on the border with Italy, to dusk beyond Bellevarde. Non-romantics can log onto the web via Wi-Fi or watch a DVD. Please also note that the access to the chalet (and features within the chalet such as tiled floors) is such that it is not suitable for babies and non walking toddlers. Arosa is part of a small private hamlet (called Chalet Suisses) on the secluded sun-drenched knoll of Le Cret, one of the earliest and most charismatic enclaves of Val d'Isere. The four stone and slate chalets seek to blend the ambiance of an old stone village and traditional Alpine decor with every contemporary comfort. The chalet boasts a spectacular living area with delightful mezzanine, huge squashy sofas and a discreet wall mounted widescreen plasma screen with DVD and cinema surround sound. This is a true picture-postcard chalet with weathered oak floors, massive timber ceilings and marble clad bathrooms. Antique furniture, snug mountain fabrics and alpine memorabilia complete this dream mountain hideaway. Arosa also boasts a fabulous spa area with hot tub and private terrace. • Bellevarde7
The Club Bellevarde is an imposing 12 bed chalet of six stone-and-timber situated right on the Santons piste and just a few hundred metres from the Olympique cable car in Val d'Isere. Genuine old timbers from a local dismantled farmhouse, Italian marble in the bathrooms and polished parquet flooring have been used throughout. The vaulted sitting room with exposed beams and floor to ceiling glass boast quality English made sofas and one of the most breathtaking views in the resort. There is a delightful fireplace, a huge sunny terrace and widescreen DVD television with cinema surround sound. There is a hot tub on the chalet sun deck with magnificent views of the Bellevarde Mountain. Hair dryers in every room and heated ski boots in the morning are some of the small but important touches. Thanks to its piste-side position the Club Bellevarde is genuinely ski in and ski out. Please note that family bookings are only taken for school holidays & high season dates. No children under 12 accepted outside these dates. • Solyneou2
Chalet Solyneou recently benefited from a facelift and is now among the finest chalets in Val d'Isere for a group of 8-10 people, blending traditional Alpine style with cool contemporary features. Its central location means the chalet is just a short stroll to the restaurants and shops of Val d'Isere. The large open plan living area and the ultra modern Wellness area make Solyneou a treat for a sociable group of friends or families. On the ground floor you are greeted by the stylish sight of the indoor swimming pool with its fountain and corner jets. The steam room is ideal for easing aching limbs after a hard day?s skiing. There is one good-sized twin/double bedroom (can fit a cot) on the ground floor with an en suite shower and flat screen TV. On the first floor the wood panelled living area is dominated by the central fireplace which can be enjoyed from all sides. The dining table hosts great dinner parties late into the evening and the sitting area benefits from 2 sofa areas with plenty of seating allowing everyone to spread out and relax. There is a huge flat screen TV with DVD player and satellite TV channels. On the balcony, the outdoor hot tub is a great place to enjoy a glass of chilled Champagne while looking up at the Bellevarde Mountain. The other four bedrooms are on the second floor. All are en suite with flat screen TVs and three have zip/link beds allowing them to be set up as twins or doubles. The bathrooms are stylishly appointed with Italian marble tiles. The master suite is particularly comfortable with a South facing balcony, views of the mountain, armchairs and a flat screen TV. Two of the rooms are under the eaves and have low ceilings. We think Chalet Solyneou is ideal for two families or a group of adults. Its location, and wellness facilities make it a great place to enjoy a skiing holiday and enjoy great service. • Angelique15
Angelique is no ordinary chalet. In fact it's officially known as Maison d'Angelique so it's not even a chalet! Fortunately Angelique doesn't live there anymore - so you can...but only for a week. Angelique is sumptuously furnished, very generously proportioned and has a thoroughly relaxing feel about it. The living areas are extremely spacious, classy and comfortable. The large log fireplace invites you and your friends to gather round with pre dinner drinks and fib about the runs you skied that day. The cosy library off the lounge is also home to a DVD player in case you just want to turn off completely. There are 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms- 4 of them are en-suite and the other 2 share 2 separate bathrooms. The master suite is huge, with its own lounge area, a bath and a separate shower. This room is worth fighting for... For those who like an extra bit of exercise there's a well kitted out gymnasium. For the less energetic amongst us there's a very sociable steam room which uses the same top quality materials as the bathrooms. Maison d'Angelique is also well located on a very peaceful back road just 4 minutes walk from the lifts in La Daille. The almost constant Val d'Isere bus stops less than 2 minutes from the chalet and right next door is Vieille Maison, one of Val d'Isere's better restaurants. Bel Air

    Val d'Isere
    France
    Sleeps:
    14 - 15
This chalet was built in 2000 and is finished to a high standard. As the modern chalet style dictates bedrooms are relatively small in order to maximise living and dining room space with an emphasis on lots of comfortable sofas and good quality soft furnishings. Although not right by the lifts being situated at the lower end of the high street, access is convenient through the regular free bus service in Val d'Isere. The nearest bus stop is 200 metres from the chalet. Bergerie

    Val d'Isere
    France
    Sleeps:
    10 - 11
Chalet La Bergerie is located on the site of an old bergerie (Shepherd's shelter) dating back to the 17th century. Decorated with care, there is a prevailing sense of calm and tranquillity helped by its location in a private enclave above Val d'Isere. This unique chalet has been renovated with many of the original features blending traditional wood and stone with modern facilities. La Bergerie boasts 4 ensuite twin or king size bedrooms, one of which has a small interconnecting room, ideal for a child or nanny and a fifth bedroom with its own private bathroom. Every room has an individual sense of style and character which makes them all an equally attractive retreat after an active day. The vaulted ceiling of the open plan sitting / dining room gives a sense of space without losing the warmth of the room created by the open log fire, and complimented by the rich colours and textures of the carefully hand picked furnishings. La Bergerie sports additional features such as the luxury of a private massage room where the highly trained physiotherapists can work out those weary limbs, or the state of the art cinema room complete with a Nintendo Wii. Whether enjoying a breakfast of your choice or a gourmet 5 course dinner, the floor to ceiling windows of La Bergerie offer a spectacular view down the Manchet Valley. The secluded hot tub and terrace are also an ideal place to watch the sun set over the Roche de Charvet whilst enjoying a well deserved glass of champagne.
