The ski area is described by Where to Ski and Snowboard 2008 as 'Europe's best-kept secret' and an 'undiscovered gem'. The Val d'Annivers consists of five charming villages with high, snow secure slopes together with spectacular scenery all within easy reach of Geneva. The area is famous for its unspoilt villages; excellent and extensive off-piste skiing; its reliable snow cover and its uncrowded slopes suited to all levels of skiers. The skiing in the area is superb with a modern lift system offering over 220km of pistes and snow secure slopes ranging in height from 1,340 to 3,000m. The area is suitable for all levels of skiers with off-piste heaven in the resorts of Zinal and Grimentz together with slopes in all five villages most suited to beginners and intermediates. As Where to Ski and Snowboard says, "our advice is to get there fast". The Cole Ridge Chalet is a new build chalet that is situated right on the edge of the home piste. There is a South facing sunken Jacuzzi on the deck that gives great mountain views. There is also an indoor sauna and guests will enjoy little touches such as the towelling robes. There is a large, contemporary living room with a double-sided fireplace shared with the dining area that seats 10 people comfortably. The living room boasts a 50 inch plasma screen TV and there is Wi-Fi internet connection also. The four principal bedrooms, 3 have fully en-suite facilities and the fourth main bedroom has private facilities. In addition there is a 5th room (separate TV room) that can be converted into a bedroom for two adults/children (they would need to share a bathroom but there is their own toilet). The chalet is operated by a small specialist tour operator that believe the quality of cooking to be just as important as the skiing experience, and so unlike many of their competitors their budget for food and wine is very generous. Ferme du Ciel is a stunning architect designed renovation of a traditional Savoyard farmhouse positioned above the award winning heritage town of Samoens.
