This is one of the best high alpine resorts in the world and there are also plenty of ski chalets. St Anton has a vast ski area that covers the local mountains as well as those of neighbouring St Christoph, Lech and Zurs. For competent skiers and boarders with enormous stamina who are in search for non-stop action then look no further! St Anton has some of the most consistently challenging and extensive slopes in the Alps and the apres ski to match. The off-piste terrain in the bowls beneath the Valluga are a haven for powder monkeys. However, although the beginners' slopes are satisfactory there are very few confidence boosting blues & reds for the less adventurous intermediates and beginners to progress to. The easier skiing can be found on the Rendl mountain or in Lech and Zurs.

For those looking for hotels, St Anton has a great collection - from 2 star pensions to 5 star luxury hotels. St Anton also has bars that rock from mid afternoon until the early hours. Apres-ski commences in the Mooserwirt and Krazy Kanguruh on the slopes above St Anton. By 4pm tables become dancing platforms for high-spirited ski boot clad revellers celebrating a good day on the slopes. There are many great bars and clubs in town too for those that don't want to walk far back to their ski chalet. St Anton has many bars staying open until well into the early hours for those that just can't get enough. The Arlberg-well.com centre offers swimming, skating, fitness and pampering facilities for those looking for off-slope diversions.

Resort Restaurants

If you are looking for restuarants that serve traditional Austrian food then the Trodlerstube and Reselhof come highly recommended. Another local restaurant within an easy walk of the ski chalets St Anton and well worth trying is the Fuhrmannstube which is popular with the locals - a quiet and relaxed eaterie. The cosy Sonnbichl is also recommended for fantastic home cooked food. If you are just after a pizza or even a Fondue then Scotty's and Pomodoro are the places to go. In Nasserein, the Alt St Anton is worth while visiting to sample some very good traditional dishes. During Peak weeks it is definitely a good idea to book tables especially if you are a big group.

Mountain Restaurants

If you are not enjoying the food in your chalet or hotel St Anton offers plenty of choice when it comes to mountain restaurants. The Hospiz Alm in St Christoph is a must. The food is excellent and you must try the famous slide down to the loos. The Sennhutte on the Galzig run home also comes highly recommended for the fantastic views and its typical Tyrolean menu. The Rodelalm on Gampen, has been recently extended and serves good food at low prices and has a lovely welcoming fire. If you are eating at the Mooserwirt be warned the portions are enormous and if you have had enough of tasting the local food then go to the Krazy Kangaroo which serves burgers, pizzas and snacks.

Apres Ski

If you are looking for a lively apres ski scene then St Anton is the resort to go to. It is probably the best apres ski you will experience in Europe and the various venues are never far from either your chalet or hotel. St Anton bars rock from mid-afternoon until the early hours. The Krazy Kanguruh and the Mooserwirt situated on the home runs are well worth visiting with live music and dancing kicking off in the early afternoons. Don't be shy of dancing on tables as this is a common sight, creating an electric atmosphere - enjoy the ski back down to your ski chalet! St Anton is not necessarily cheap though - especially the beers! In town the Underground is popular with live music most days but you need to get there early as later it gets very busy. Other popular spots are the Hazienda, Scotty's, Bar Cuba, Bobo's, Funky Chicken and Pub 37.

Nightlife

The apres ski in St Anton seems to more often than not roll into the early hours of the morning but as the terrain of St Anton is largely flat it's not a difficult task to stumble back to your ski chalet. St Anton is the kind of resort where it's not an unusual sight to still see people wandering around in their ski boots late at night! Many of the apres ski bars stay open till the early hours but if you are looking to cut some shapes on the dance floor then the Kandahar is probably your best option and is close to the main hotels. St Anton is also home to The Piccadilly which is an institution - a super atmosphere with cheesy cover bands playing.

The star rating for the ski hire shops is an indication of the level of service; quality and variety of stock, and the space and decor of the shop. It is also a reflection on the price. A five star rated shop will offer great service and equipment but also will charge the highest price. Ski hire shops with a two star rating have less variety and older, poorer quality of stock but are cheapest.
