Chalets La Plagne, ski holidays La Plagne, ski holidays Paradiski

Situated 200 vertical metres below Plagne Centre lies the pretty, chalet resort of Plagne 1800. With nearly 30 catered chalets in this smallish resort set in the trees there is a strong British following. The apres ski scene and nightlife is therefore fairly lively. There is now a good lift connection to Plagne Centre where the best ski schools are located so getting children to their lessons on time is not an issue. There is, however, an ESF ski school meeting point in Plagne 1800 if you want it even easier.

Pros

  • Slopes to please skiers & snowboarders from complete beginners through to offpiste experts
  • Very family friendly - good ski schools & lots of apres ski activities!
  • Mountain restaurants with great views and reasonable prices
  • High in altitude and snow sure, especially the Bellecote Glacier
  • Linked to Les Arcs by the fantastic Vanoise Express cable car that crosses the valley

Cons

  • There are some flat spots for Snowboarders but route planning means these can be avoided.
  • Nightlife action is actually not bad but limited to only a couple of venues
  • Resort buses that are reliable but don't run often or late, miss the last one & you need a taxi

Resort Restaurants

In Plagne 1800, the Petit Chaperon Rouge is great and you can combine it with a sleigh ride for a romantic evening. Also the Loup Blanc is good if you want a tasty steak.

Mountain Restaurants

Mountain Restaurants in La Plagne are generally good value for money and many have fantastic views of the Vanoise National Park or the Tarentaise Valley, and only get really busy during Peak weeks. For stunning views across the valley to Courchevel, the Rossa on the Champagny side is the best option, you can even nap in the deck chairs! In bad weather head for the lower tree lined runs that lead down to Les Coches & Montchavin, and try the Chez Pat du Sauget. The Arpette is a good value restaurant in the main part of the piste and is easy to get to for most levels of skiers.

Apres Ski

The Mine is the focal point for apres ski and nightlife in Plane 1800.

The star rating for the ski hire shops is an indication of the level of service; quality and variety of stock, and the space and decor of the shop. It is also a reflection on the price. A five star rated shop will offer great service and equipment but also will charge the highest price. Ski hire shops with a two star rating have less variety and older, poorer quality of stock but are cheapest.
