Chalets Morzine, hotels Morzine, ski holidays Morzine, ski holidays Portes du Soleil
Morzine at the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski circuit is a lively, year-round resort with traditional mountain architecture spreading across both sides of a river which cuts through the valley floor. Its relatively low altitude leads to a risk of poor snow conditions in April, but it remains popular with the British market being one of the easiest resorts to reach by car from the UK and with one of the quickest transfer times from Geneva (less than one hour on a good day). The skiing has something for everyone especially on the local Pleney area, which it shares with the resort of Les Gets. Although the main amenities are clustered around the Pleney lifts, the accommodation on offer is widely scattered so the generally efficient bus service comes in handy. The apres ski scene is one of the best in France with a multitude of bars, restaurants and activities after dark. Table dancing at the Crepuscule has been recommended, as is the newly opened Buddha Bar.

Resort Restaurants
There is a reasonable choice of restaurants to try in Morzine. The hotel Samoyede has arguably the best food and service in town, with both traditional and modern cuisine on the menue. The hotel Les Airelles, and the hotel Dru also have good food. The Chamade, the Grange and the chalet Philibert come highly recommended for local cuisine while the Etale, Clin d'Oeil, Pique Feu, Cafe Chaud and the Tyrolien offer a mixture of Fondue, local Savoyarde and Tartiflette dishes.
Mountain Restaurants
The following come recommended- Chez Nannon between the Nyon and Chamossiere, Lhottys hut, the Vaffieu at the top of the Folliets chair, and Nabor. Also worth a go are the self-service restaurant on the Mont Chery, and finally The Taniere in Les Gets.
Apres Ski
There is dancing in ski boots at Crepuscule, to loud house music; Dixies has live sport, as well as live music and the local resort staff tend to go to the Cavern. Also recommended is the heated terrace at L'Etale on a Friday night. Local band Funkadelique play from 4.30pm-7.00pm when the place gets packed out quickly. L'Etale is in the centre of town, therefore very close to other excellent apres bars such as the Crepu ('pub' atmosphere), and the Coup de Cour for a more sophisticated, wine bar scene.
Nightlife
Being one of the livelier French resorts we think Morzine should keep most bar hoppers and disco divas happy. The bars to try include Coyote Bar with live DJ's playing nightly, the Bouda bar for a more chilled out affair and for a late night bop the L'opera and Laury's are the places to be seen.

The star rating for the ski hire shops is an indication of the level of service; quality and variety of stock, and the space and decor of the shop. It is also a reflection on the price. A five star rated shop will offer great service and equipment but also will charge the highest price. Ski hire shops with a two star rating have less variety and older, poorer quality of stock but are cheapest.
