Chalets Les Collons, ski holidays Les Collons, ski holidays 4 Valleys

Les Collons is situated just 300 vertical metres below Thyon on a broad East facing slope. There are really two main parallel roads in Les Collons one 50 metres above the other. Most of the accommodation is in apartments but there are more recent chalet developments and a few 3 star hotels. There is a wider range of bars and restaurants than in Thyon and so this makes Les Collons a great place to stay if you want to explore the 4 Valleys without incurring the costs of staying in Verbier.

With it's toboggan run, walking trails (7 kms) and cross country trails (6 kms) there is actually a fair bit to do for non skiers.

There are a number of lifts that connect with Thyon and from there the expanse of the 4 Valleys is relatively easy to access.

  • Being East facing means less slush than in other resorts when warmer weather arrives
  • Very good value compared to glitzy Verbier

Cons

  • Less nightlife than in some larger resorts
  • Fewer British shops and/or haute-couture shops than in Verbier, or some other larger resorts

Resort Restaurants

If you are looking to eat out one evening, away from your ski chalet, Les Collons offers a range of choice from traditional Swiss cuisine and more international dishes and cuisines such as the popular pizzerias! Popular restaurant choices are the Pizzeria La Luge and Chalet La Maya.

Mountain Restaurants

There are some fantastic traditional, Swiss, mountain restaurants throughout Les Collons, Thyons and Veysonnaz which are excellent value for money. Enjoy lunch on the mountains and take advantage of these great mountain restaurants as an alternative to going back to your ski chalet. Les Collons has some lovely restaurants, however a particular favourite is Les Chottes in Veysonnaz. Authentic, right in the middle of the ski slopes with a splendid panoramic view over the Rhone valley, on the menu you find several specialities from in and outside the Valais.

Apres Ski

After a long day on the slopes you should head for a few drinks before heading back to your ski chalet. Les Collons has a great Irish bar called Joyce O'Sullivans and Bar Le Pub which has great Apres offers and local beverages.

Nightlife

For night life you are better off sticking to your ski chalet. Les Collons is a lot quieter than the bigger, British resorts and is designed for those looking for a quieter and a more family focussed ski holiday. The neighbouring resorts do however have a couple of great discotheque's for the dancer within. If its dancing and shape cutting you're after washed down with some cosmopolitans then head to either L'Underground Discotheque or Le Cosmos.

The star rating for the ski hire shops is an indication of the level of service; quality and variety of stock, and the space and decor of the shop. It is also a reflection on the price. A five star rated shop will offer great service and equipment but also will charge the highest price. Ski hire shops with a two star rating have less variety and older, poorer quality of stock but are cheapest.
