Hotels Flims Switzerland
A surprisingly large and high ski area (also with glacier). A good selection of hotels
Hotels Flims, ski holidays Flims
Flims has an extensive and varied number of slopes linking with the neighbouring resort of Laax. In fact this area is Switzerland's second largest ski area (Verbier being the largest) and offers high (top skiing well over 3,000 metres), snow sure ski terrain. There is a fantastic terrain park (Crap Sogn Gion) which is claimed to be Europe's best, with half pipes, drops, jumps and quater pipes. The village is split into two distinct areas of Dorf and Waldhaus which are separated by the deep gorge. Waldhaus is the quieter of the two and where the main collection of hotels is found; Dorf is where the main lifts and the apres ski scene can be found.
Alpine Answers note: We have an arrangement with Mountain Fantasy ski hire shop and offer our clients great on-line prices with them. However, please note that there are other ski hire shops closer to the main lift station that you may wish to use.

Resort Restaurants
The majority of restaurants in Flims are in hotels and it is definitely recommended to make a reservation at weekends, as places do get very booked up. The Alpina is very good and if you are a fan of Italian food then the Pomodoro is worth a visit. If you are looking for an atmospheric restaurant then Da Nus is a must and the Chesa if you like a fondue. Cavigilli is also very good, offering a modern and contemporary menu.
Mountain Restaurants
For a small resort, Flims offers a good selection of mountain restaurants. At the top end, there is Startgels which has an excellent menu and inside the hut there is a great atmosphere. Higher up the mountain, Das Elephant and Capalari are more modern table service restuarants. On the lower slops the rustic Tegia Larnags and cosy Runcahohe are well worth a visit.
Apres Ski
The apres ski Scene in Flims is relatively quiet. If you are looking for lively Apres Ski then head to Laax and the Crap bar and the well-known Riders palace bar, which is very popular. In Flims itself the most popular place is the Caverna, a traditional wine cellar with lots of atmosphere. Other places worth trying are the Iglu and Stenna bar.
Nightlife
There is not much nightlife in Flims. A few of the bars play live music and there is also a disco if you fancy a dance.

The star rating for the ski hire shops is an indication of the level of service; quality and variety of stock, and the space and decor of the shop. It is also a reflection on the price. A five star rated shop will offer great service and equipment but also will charge the highest price. Ski hire shops with a two star rating have less variety and older, poorer quality of stock but are cheapest.
