Ski chalets Avoriaz & hotels Avoriaz France
Great resort for ski-in ski-out accommodation with access to a huge ski area
Chalets Avoriaz, hotels Avoriaz, ski holidays Avoriaz, ski holidays Portes du Soleil
Avoriaz is a purpose built resort giving good access to the extensive Portes du Soleil ski circuit, perched impressively above a dramatic sheer cliff face. It is the highest resort within the circuit generally maintaining the best snow, although even here the lifts only rise to 2,350m. Its slopes are mainly bleak, treeless and mainly north facing suiting all grades of skier and although in plentiful supply, tend to be rather short. However, skiing down pretty runs through the trees into Les Lindarets is a joy, as are the mountain restaurants on arrival. The village is composed of angular dark, wood clad high rise buildings which have a distinct style unlike any other purpose built resort. This non-traditional architecture works to an extent and looks good from the chairs departing its base, although many find it ugly and soulless. There is little to do for the non-skier, and once in the resort prices are considerably higher than its neighbours Morzine and Chatel.

Resort Restaurants
More pricey than most is the Table du Marche, which is found in the hotel Dromonts, the food there is excellent and worth it! For good food and value for money then try; Fontaines Blanches for Savoyarde food, Douchka for its tasty Moroccan dishes and Intrets for its pizzas. For a more cosy meal out the head to the Au Briska. For cheap and cheerful, Changabanga is the best place for burgers etc.
Mountain Restaurants
In the hamlet of Les Lindarets you will finding some cute and rustic chalets offering a number of good options for lunches on the hill. The Jolly Cremailliere has wanderful chanterelle mushrooms and a lovely atmosphere and on a good day the Terrasse is just the perfect place to be. The rustic Grenouille du Marais located at the top of the Morzine gondola has great views and food. At the top of the Swiss wall, you will find the Refuge des Brocheaux and the Pas de Chavanette which have both been recommended.
Apres Ski
The Yeti has a good apres-ski atmosphere and is quite busy at around 4pm. Brits tend to head to the Tavillon where there is Sky TV and good draught beers. Also the Fantastique.
Nightlife
For a dance, head to the Choucas. They also have live bands. There is also more choice in Morzine, it is possible to take a Taxi.

The star rating for the ski hire shops is an indication of the level of service; quality and variety of stock, and the space and decor of the shop. It is also a reflection on the price. A five star rated shop will offer great service and equipment but also will charge the highest price. Ski hire shops with a two star rating have less variety and older, poorer quality of stock but are cheapest.
