Jackson Hole in Wyoming has its own special atmosphere and is well worth the long journey getting there. It is to North America, what Chamonix is to Europe. The old cowboy town of Jackson Hole is a 20 minute bus ride from the modern base of slope Teton Village but it is better to stay in Jackson Hole. Teton Village does have the Mangy Moose bar and restaurant which is its saving grace but there is much more 'happening' back in Jackson. Of course Jackson is legendary on account of Corbet's couloir and really it is quite knee shaking hanging your ski tips over the edge of the drop in. However, there is plenty of skiing besides that and the back country guided skiing is as good as you're going to get anywhere. The ski terrain is generally steep although it becomes progressively shallower the further one gets from Rendezvous Mountain - so there is plenty for the more intermediate skier to do. Yellow Stone National Park with its great snow-mobile terrain is 60 miles to the North and well worth a day visit.

Resort Restaurants
Jackson Hole has a wide range of options for eating out in the resort centre, with restaurants offering many different cuisines from Pizza to Japanese to American grill houses. A few restaurants to have a look at would be Nani's, Snake River Grill, Thai Me Up, Cadillac Grille, The Blue Lion or Kosho. Many of the restaurants also offer great wine lists.
Mountain Restaurants
At four points on the mountains it is possible to pick up a quick something from the snack shop, and there is one restaurant at the base of the Casper lift station called The Casper. With limited choice and the ease of returning back to the resort base, it is often easier and more convenient to do this. You will find a greater choice of places to choose from.
Apres Ski
As soon as you are off the slopes and in Teton there are a couple of lively places to head for some pre-dinner apres. Firstly try the Mangy Moose, this place has been described as legendary in North America. There are often live bands playing here, and there is big happy party atmosphere. If however you fancy something a little more relaxed in Teton then head to the Cascade bar or the Village Cafe. In Jackson you must pop into The Silver Dollar and The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, as these two saloon style bars are very well known.
Nightlife
Again The Silver Dollar and The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar are fun places to visit and they will often have dancing on some evenings. Rancher Spirits, billiards and Log Cabin Saloon are all favourite places for some good entertainment and drinks. Just a few miles out of Jackson in Wilson is the Stagecoach Bar where there are weekly discos and band nights.
