France > Meribel Les Allues

Many confuse Meribel Les Allues with the main resort of Meribel which is situated some 7 kms further up the valley. Les Allues is connected to the main lift hub of Meribel via the slow and sometimes cold gondola that ascends the main valley floor - the journey accessing the higher skiing therefore takes some time (especially in high season when the queues at Chaudanne in Meribel can be long). However, Les Allues is a charming and friendly village in which to stay and offers good value if not luxurious accommodation. Ski Bonne Neige is the main British chalet tour operator here and the Croix Jean Claude is a good value 2 star hotel.

The star rating for the ski hire shops is an indication of the level of service; quality and variety of stock, and the space and decor of the shop. It is also a reflection on the price. A five star rated shop will offer great service and equipment but also will charge the highest price. Ski hire shops with a two star rating have less variety and older, poorer quality of stock but are cheapest.
