We have 9 chalets and 3 hotels in this resort

France > Mottaret

Mottaret is a satellite village of Meribel and has excellent access to the slopes and the whole Three Valleys area with most of the accommodation being ski-in / ski-out. It is a purpose built resort developed in the 1970's, and has limited nightlife although there are a few good bars, restaurants and a nightclub. Mottaret in our opinion is ideal for families who don't want to spend a fortune and are happy to stay in Self-catered accommodation or fairly basic catered chalets.

Restaurants and Apres Ski

Resort Restaurants

There are enough restaurants in Mottaret to offer variety and a choice for differing budgets. The braserie at the hotel Mont Vallon is recommended, as are Le Schuss, La Belle Savoie, La Brizolee, Pizzeria du Mottaret, the Zig-Zag and the Rastro.

Mountain Restaurants

A good spot if you are staying in Mottaret is the Chardonnet as it can be found at the mid station from Mottaret to Saulire. Other restaurants dotted arround the Meribel valley include, the Rhododendrons, The Rond Point, The Cretes, The Tougniat, Pierres Plates, Sittelle, and finally the Blanchot.

Apres Ski

Mottaret is not as lively as Meribel centre, however there are some noteworthy places to have a drink after skiing. Rastro and Down Town are the best places to hang out. Zig-Zag is another bar worth trying.

Nightlife

For those who really want a late night we would recommend taking the bus to Meribel centre, however this does not mean you can't have fun in Mottaret. Ok the choice is limited in comparison, however besides the bars mentioned above the Rastro disco kicks in later on and stays open till late in the night so if you want a bop you can do it Mottaret!

The star rating for the ski hire shops is an indication of the level of service; quality and variety of stock, and the space and decor of the shop. It is also a reflection on the price. A five star rated shop will offer great service and equipment but also will charge the highest price. Ski hire shops with a two star rating have less variety and older, poorer quality of stock but are cheapest.
