London Weather Thursday 20th March:

Oh man... what a horrible grey, cold, rainy day! But the good news is that winter is back. Oh yeah. Big time. Lots of snow forecast for the Alps this weekend.

I will be giving you regular updates to the present (and expected) conditions that exist in some of our favourite resorts of the Alps and North America. I will be posting photos from webcams and reporting on general mountain riding conditions, giving you a good idea of where to book your last minute ski or boarding holiday. General Synopsis:

Winter is back with full force in European Alps! Snow has been falling and will continue to fall as cold temperatures and large weather systems are helping to restore conditions and will be sure to provide some of the best skiing of the season to date!.

Val d'Isere - Thursday 20th March

Nearby resorts: Tignes, Les Arcs, La Rosiere, La Plagne and The Three Valleys

Snow has been falling in the Espace Killy region with excellent skiing conditions top to bottom. 60cm of snow is forecast for this week with two systems rolling through the area and some sunny days in between. There is a 190cm base.

St Anton - Thursday 20th March

Nearby resorts of Lech, Zurs, Ischgl, Klosters, Davos and Flims

St Anton and the Alberg region have received huge quantities of snow with fantastic powder conditions. Bring your goggles as snow is expected every day with over one metre forecast for the next seven days. They are boasting a 320cm alpine base with the freezing level remaining around valley level.

Zermatt - Thursday 20th March

Nearby resorts: Verbier, Nendaz, Grimentz, Champery, Villars, Chamonix and Argentiere

As with the other areas in the Alps, Zermatt has received lots of new snow, which has significantly improved their base from top to bottom. They are expected to receive around 90cm of snow over the next few days and their snow base is now 190cm.

Whistler - Thursday 20th March

It is still very much winter in Western Canada with excellent snow conditions throughout. Whislter received 25cm of snow last week and are expected to have flurries for the next few days with a strong disturbance moving in Saturday. Their snow base is 250cm with powder conditions.

Aspen - Thursday 20th March

Nearby resorts: Breckenridge, Vail, Copper Mountain, Winter Park and Keystone

Aspen and the Colorado Rockies have enjoyed excellent conditions all winter. The mountains are covered with nice dry snow with regular snow flurries and Colorado sunshine in the forecast. They have a good two metre plus base.
