Hotel Alex
This luxury hotel has been a firm favourite with the British market for many years and is quintessentially Zermatt in character and style. Definitely old school in flavour (jacket and ties are not out of place on gala evenings) but not so starchy that families with kids are not welcome. The Alex manages to combine tradition, excellent service and quality with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere making it a first class hotel. Situated at the end of the High Street not far from either the Gornergrat or Sunnegga lifts guests benefit from an ideal position within the resort whereby everything is walking distance away.
Facilities
All rooms have bath and wc, telephone, voice mail, cable TV / radio, modem access and safety box. Use of the swimming pool, whirlpool, bio sauna, Finnish sauna, Jacuzzi and steam bath, tennis hall, squash court and fitness room are included in the price.
Notes
Christmas and New Year's Eve dinner December 2011 carries a mandatory supplement of 120 Swiss Francs per person. Minimum stay over the festive high season period is 14 nights.

The star rating for the ski hire shops is an indication of the level of service; quality and variety of stock, and the space and decor of the shop. It is also a reflection on the price. A five star rated shop will offer great service and equipment but also will charge the highest price. Ski hire shops with a two star rating have less variety and older, poorer quality of stock but are cheapest.
