If the apres-ski nightlife is as important to your holiday as the white majesty of the piste, then Haus Glacier offers the perfect solution. A newly-built luxury apartment in the very centre of Zermatt, its three bedrooms sleep six in understated elegance, with designer bathrooms, vast sofas, widescreen DVD television and wireless broadband, as well as east and west-facing terraces for that sunrise coffee or a relaxing drink as the sun goes down. It may be easy, in such a setting, to forget why you came here - but from the tranquility of the third floor apartment, a lift will take you directly onto Zermatt high street and from there it's a mere 300 metres to the Gornergratbahn, Europe's highest open-track mountain railway.
