Linked with neighbouring Tignes, there are over 300km of pistes, vast areas of off piste and skiing as high as 3,100m altitude. Don’t be misled into thinking Val d’Isere is just for experts as there are an enormous number of wide, gentle pistes for intermediates and for novices the excellent nursery slopes in the centre of town are free. Val d’Isere is also renown for it’s fantastic après and nightlife scenes.

2.Val Thorens – France

Val Thorens is the highest resort in the Alps and one of the most snow sure, with North facing slopes guaranteeing good snow for a long season. Located close to many of the hotels and chalets in Val Thorens are the extensive local slopes to suit all abilities, convenient, gentle nursery slopes and good access to the rest of the vast Three Valleys.

At the heart of the resort is the snow covered Place de Caron where debutante skiers and boarders mix with pedestrians. There are lots of bars and restaurants that look out over this area – many with large terraces making for some good viewing in April when the weather is warmer and sitting outside is pleasant.

3.Obergurgl – Austria

Obergurgl is situated in the spectacular Oetz Valley and is Austria’s highest parish, resulting in excellent snow records and a very long skiing season. Obergurgl is a small village so getting about is really very easy which makes it a popular choice for families. The après ski is varied and is mostly centred around the hotel bars and the resort enjoys a friendly atmosphere.

4.Cervinia – Italy

Cervinia combines high, sunny, extensive, snowsure slopes with impressive scenery and a link over to Zermatt. The skiing is well suited to both beginners and intermediates, consisting of miles of long, gentle flattering runs. In Spring you wont find a better spot to cruise the reds and lap up the sun. A perfect choice for a late season ski holiday.

Saas Fee is a charming Swiss village in the Valais area. There is good skiing for all standards of skier including excellent lower slopes for beginners.
